PLEASE READ THIS, PEOPLE! IT'S IMPORTANT...
Okay, I have some horrible news to tell everyone. I hope this is alright that I'm posting this here, as I believe this is the right board to do so. Anyhow, my parents are divorced. I live with my mom for the summer and in the school year I live with my dad, and the whole time we alternate weekends. My best friend in the whole flippin' universe, Megan, (Who lives near my dad's) went to Alaska for the summer. I was bummed, but I couldn't hang out with her for the summer anyway, cause I'd be at my mom's. But, still. So last weekend I went to my dad's and found out that she was back.
The county fair was goin' on, so I figured that I'd invite her to go with me. She declined, saying that she didn't like fairs that much, so I went to her house to spent the night, instead. We went out in the field and went mudding. What 's mudding, you ask? Well, you take an ATV, drive it at about a million mph at a gigantic mud puddle and when you hit it, swerve, so that mud flies in every possible direction. It was fun and we got absolutely soaked in mud. We had to strip in the back yard cause our clothes were so wet. Anyway, we hung out for the rest of the day, watched a movie, drew pictures, wrote, blah blah. The next day we went(alone) to her aunt's house.
Her aunt has three horses. Sir Camelot(part draft gelding), Sedona Mist(part quarter horse), and Sweetheart(quarterhorse). Megan groomed the horses and picked the mud outta their hooves. Then, she got her aunt to come and watch her while she took Camelot into the riding ring and lunged him. First, she did it without a rope, then she did so WITH a rope, then she rode him bareback for a while. Mind you, she hadn't ridden the big boy since summer began. So she was practicing backing up and she reached down and patted his shoulders, praising him, and he was fine. Then she moved forward to get off or whatever, and he started balking and shaking his head. Then he started to buck, and buck hard.
He reared up in the air and she held onto the reins(big mistake) which pulled him off balance. He lost his footing, and the 12-hundred pound gelding fell on top of my best friend. It happened so fast, and it was like it wasn't happening, like a dream, like watching something on TV. The whole time my mind is screaming-OH MY ******* GOD!- and my eyes were wider than plates, I'm tellin you. See, it was a total accident on the horse's part. Camelot even rolled off to the front and to the side so he wouldn't roll all the way over on her and squash her.
He stood there by her until her aunt(who wasn't feeling good as it is) jumped up and over the fence, scaring him away from his buddy who he had injured. Camelot loves Megan and alwaysd protects her and he KNEW he hurt her. Megan was laying in the dirt on her side SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER and her aunt was crying and screamed at me to go get her husband. I finally was shocked into reality and ran as fast as my feet would take me back to the house.
This was the first time I had ever been to the place, so it was very hard. I jumped over about 3 fences, and flew inside. I was screaming for John at the top of my lungs, and ran around the house like a frantic animal. I was thinking-OH MY GOD! WHAT IF THEY HAVE AN UPSTAIRS? WHAT IF HE"S IN THE BATHROOM AND CAN'T HEAR ME? WHAT IF- and I ran outside. still screaming his name with my lungs about bursting. I ran back and forth from the house to the stable to the garage to the house and back again about a million times, desperate as all get out, in tears, fearing for my friend's life. See, she already has a really bad hip and back. I finally found him in the garage.
Tears streaming down my face, I yelled that Camelot had fallen on Megan. I followed him, heaving from all the running(I had never stopped throughout my whole frenzy to save Megan) and still crying like mad. Megan was still screaming that it hurt, and I was near to faiinting or going nuts. Her aunt screamed to John to ge the ambulance and to me that Megan needed a pillow.
I ran all the way back to the house(I have bad stamina, so my sides were heaving, but I didn't stop for a second.) and flew inside the house I didn't know to find a pillow. John was meanwhile calling the ambulance and I found a pillow, returning to my friend faster than fire on a trail of gasoline. As I flew down the hill to the riding ring with the pillow, Camelot(still in the ring) saw me like this and freaked out. My mind went nuts!
I was so afraid that he would trample Megan! I slowed down and handed the pillow to Megan's aunt and she gave it to her niece, but Megan didn't want it. She was looking worse and worse. Her eyes were half-closed and she said her right leg had went numb.
I ran back to the house and John told me to stand by the road to flag down the ambulance. I ran all the way to the road, blinded by grieving tears, and stood in the road, dry-heaving. The ambulance took forever, and I'm screaming in my head for the stupid idiots to hurry up, my friend is dying here!
They finally came. When they got to the ring, I saw that John had returned the part-draft Camelot to the stable, and he was looking sadly out the window towards Mwgan. Poor baby, I thought, he knows he hurt her. The medics took Megan, still screaming like a hillcat, into the truck. Her grandparents(legal guardians) were there and they said that they wanted them to take her to the nearest hospital.
Halfway there(I'm riding with her grandma, her aunt is riding in the ambulance) the ambulance stops and says that the hospital we wanted to go to didn't have the proper facilites, so we went to a bigger one. We got to THAT hospital and the emergency room specialists(whatever) were analyzing my friend. She was still crying and moaning, even after they had given her pain meds. She was bleeding from the inside, and they gave her a lot of x-rays and a catscan. The whole time I'm standing next to her, holding her hand.
She was like-My legs, my hips, it all hurts- and I was like-I know, Megan, you're d-doing great, girl. She had a ruptured bladder, her pelvic bone was broken in two places(as of yet-they didn't know exactly how many times-possibly more) and that's all the knew at the moment. I had to leave, cause I still had to return to my mom's. They had to drag me out, kicking and screaming...I hated leaving her there. Turns out that it was so bad that they had to take her to an even BIGGER ******* hospital! It was that bad.
Guys...this is the worst and msot traumatic thing that has ever happened to me. Please pray for my friend. John said that after everyone left, Camelot was in his stall pouting, and when he took him out, he stood in the riding ring where the accident was, pouting.
