Cranky stormclouds the color of charcoal gathered overhead as a lone mare made her way towards the top of Learoy's rock. Thunder rumbled angrily in the distance, and the wind began to pick up a bit, tossing the palomino's mane here and there. Tiny waves were forming on the surface of the lake, and the trees nearby were beginning to lose leaves in the growing gale. Fidor looked heavenward for a bit, watching solemnly as the deep grey clouds rolled past. It would be moments before sky-water fell to the earth, thouroughly drenching all those present and out of shelter. The sky was almost taking on a greenish tint, now that the mare looked harder, and a pang of fear rose up in her. A serpent-cloud could be on it's way. Tossing her head, as if to shake off any unnessesary thoughts, Fidor continued upslope until she reached the top of the gigantic rock. Now her ebony orbs scanned the area around her, searching for the even the slightest thing out of the ordinary. All seemed well, and the Lusitano was relieved. She had a very strange feeling that something was wrong, but perhaps it was only a pebble underneath her hooves. The mind can oft decieve you, as the young mare knew well. It was then that rain began to fall, first tapping lightly on the soil like fingers, then growing into heavily pounding fists, soaking the ever-growing sodden ground. Nostrils flared, Fidor sucked in the scent of the rain, a smell that almost all could recognize. It was calming to the mare, and although some thought it strange, she liked to stay outside in such weather...liked to feel the raindrops soaking her reddish-tan pelt. Fidor closed her eyes and again looked to the skies, this time unseeing, as the sky-water fell on her finely-featured face. Ah, this was what she called peace.

MythWater stumbled across the rocky terrain with her colt close by her side. The blue roan mustang mare was eager to get out of the rain, it was cold and the sky was not smiling upon them.
"Stay by my side, StarFisher, I don't wna tyou lost."
The black tobiano rolled his eyes and snorted, she knew ver well that he wasn't a child and yet still she treated him as such. Sometimes he just felt like kicking her. Instead he humored her.
"Don't worry, I'm right here," he said calmly. 'She's so over protective,' he thought.
The dark pair made their way up the rocks that were quickly growing slicker. The colt turned to stare at the scene below. Wind-ripped grass rolled around a dark lake StarFisher assumed was clear in good weather. The colt lifted his head to gaze at the path ahead, he thought he saw a pale figure in he rain.

Fidor thought she heard the whisper-soft sound of hooves on the rock, and whipped around to see nothing. Squinting her black eyes, she could almost make out a figure in the downpour. No. TWO figures. But within a matter of seconds they were gone again, washed away like problems in the rain. The mare couldn't even decide whether she was happy that they were gone. Fidor usually tended to be alone, but she almost missed the company of others. The last soul she had seen was a deer; a doe and her fawn, basking in the sunlight on the almost barren landscape. It had reminded her oh-too-much of her younger brother, Darios, whom she had only recently departed with. When he had left her in search of his father she had been glad he was gone, happy to be by herself. It had been only days until the loneliness had seeped in, creeping in like an unwanted visitor. Now the young mare realized that she DID want company, DID need someone to keep her from going mad. The palomino let loose a high, flutey whinny that echoed around her. If any were near, if it hadn't been just a hallucination(which it well could have been, seeing how the figures in the rain had been a mare and foal, as she and Darios had been), they would know she was there and hopefully consider her company, as dire as it was.

The pair skidded to a halt and lifted their heads high, nostrils flaring in a failing attempt to smell out the source.
Ears pricked Fisher trotted high and flashy while rumbling out a deep and loud nicker to their possible company. Myth regained herself and with her tail high led the way towards the pale figure ahead.
((Heh, sorry for the crappy response, just didn't want to leave you hanging.))

OOC: No problem, it's fine. Hearing the replying cry, Fidor pawed the sodden earth beneath her heels. Her heart beat fast and irregular in her chest, seeming to jump literally into her throat. Now was the time to choose. She had the chance, now she had to make the decision to either meet the opportunity or dissapear. The young, red-tan mare hated herself for feeling like this; unsure of what to do. She hated herself for being such a loner. Champing her teeth uneasily, the red palomino forced herself into a slow, dragging walk, heading where her ears told her the newcomers stood. She couldn't risk being left alone again. She liked escaping into her own mind when it seemed there was nowhere else to hide, but this was too much. As the fog and rain cleared a bit in front of her, she saw them. A painted colt and his dam, a blue roan. The roan mare was leading the colt, her eyes seeming a bit unsure and almost nervous. Fidor related to that feeling immediately. She remembered how protective she had been with Darios, how it had always seemed that he was in danger and she had to keep him on her flank at all times. That helped her to increase her gait and loosen up a bit. Feel a little more comfortable near the pair. Emitting another flutey whinny from deep in her breast, Fidor called to the pair. " Hail, and well met, newcomers. What brings you into my demenses? There is naught here but myself, excluding the other wildlife. Are you lost?" -Fidor

The herd of two snapped their heads to the answering calling. Nostrils flaring and heads raised in defiance against the weather they set pace at a brisk walk to find the owner of the sweet, musical call.
"Greetings, Mare, we are but wary travelers seeking shelter from the sky. We did not know this land belonged to anyone," called the blue roan.
"We have traveled far and could use some rest, if it is only the wilds and yourself could you spare us a piece of your land to rest?" The colt beside her piped in.

The red palomino held back a snicker at the other mare's words; the hint of a smile playing on her lips. "We did not know this land belonged to anyone." the blue roan had said. Hah. Indeed. This land belonged to no one, Fidor seemingly belonged to IT. " No...this land is not my own. I simply live here. You said you were searching for shelter? I have a grotto beneath the rock that I would be obliged to share." Moving closer to the pair, she bent her neck so she could exchange a bonding a of breath with both. With a whoosh and a snort, she touched noses for a moment with the mare, then the colt. Traditional greetings, of course. When the mare touched noses with the colt, his little whiskers tickled her soft, velvety muzzle, sparking a grin. The colt's eyes seemed to sparkle with mirth, and Fidor could swear that she saw Darios in those young eyes, but perhaps it was only because their faces were similar. (Eek, I hope that last sentence isn't considered power playing.) "Yes, most do not enjoy the rains as I do. If you would follow me, I can lead you to my abode." she said, and turned to plod to the rise, heading for the bottom of the rock. Looking behind her, Fidor whistled, calling the pair to her.

((Lol, it's fine. I hope you won't consider what I'm going to post as annoying, I'm tryin to be a little more traditional horse-wise))
Mythwater's ears flicked back and forth sharply as she exchanged breaths with the foreign mare. She wasn't sure how she liked the mare or not. She didn't know if this exchange made them a herd. Should assert her dominance? She stamped a hindleg and flicked her tail making it obvious that she was tense in this limbo of power.
StarFisher tensed as he felt the prickle of nervousness from his mother's side. Not used to ever having leadership in the herd Starfisher was quick to lower his head during the scent exchange, though his eyes told that he was wild with excitement. Fidor was the first horse he'd ever met besides his mother, at least the first horse he'd met in person- the most contact he'd had with others was scents in the wind.
MythWater stamped her hind leg and shook her mane before making a nervous twitch of a smile. " Yes, if you could show us your shelter we would be grateful."
The pair trailed after the palomino.
"So what the heck are you doing in the rain anyway? Trying to catch a chill?" StarFisher inquired as he grew bolder at his now at the side of a calmer version of his mother.

OOC: Annoying? Nawww... Sensing the giddiness in the blue roan, Fidor nervously flicked her tail. Had she somehow made a mistake? Offended the other party? The red palomino's eyes looked uncertain, afraid that she was scaring off her company. The pied colt's words struck her hard, almost causing her to flinch. Did they think her insane for staying outside in such weather? Surely, they had atleast ONCE taken joy in something most didn't. But perhaps not. " I.." the mare stammered, eyes wide as she tryed to make them pair understand," I have always loved the rain. Standing in the pelting drops or even listening to it on the roof of my grotto calms me. I find peace in the rain." Speaking of the devil, the rain began to fall even harder, pounding like fists on Fidor's red-tan coat. Lightning flashed, and the replying crash of thunder echoed all around the trio. Finally, they reached the cavern; a low, carved out cave in the side of the gigantic rock. Fidor entered briskly, shaking off her pelt a bit and splattering the walls with precipitation, then walked deeper into the grotto. There was a small pool in the back that was fed by a small spring in the cave, filled with cold, clear water. A pile of dryed grass lay next to it; stored up food. Fidor hoped that the pair didn't think her strange for keeping the grass in her home, she only had it there in case she was snowed in during the winter or during similar emergencies. Not that she couldn't be generous and spare some for a friend. If she had any. Gesturing towards the pile, she looked to her guests. "If you are hungry..." -Fidor

((^^ Sorry if this is confusing as well, I'm trying to match up what happened in the order your mare reacted to the order mine did things. xD))
Sensing that the other mare was just as nervous as she Myth figured that there wouldn't be a need to establish ranks, at least not so quickly. Besides, her son wasn't in any danger, he was a colt she had to keep reminding herself. There wasn't a stud to chase him off with nips and kicks.
"So what the heck are you doing in the rain anyway? Trying to catch a chill?" StarFisher inquired as he grew bolder at his now at the side of a calmer version of his mother.
" I.." she cut short nervously. Myth was curious to know as well, forgetting herself and the upbringing of her colt. " I have always loved the rain. Standing in the pelting drops or even listening to it on the roof of my grotto calms me. I find peace in the rain." the mare finished, she seemed bashful.
Remembering herself Myth snorted and kicked her colt in the hindleg.
"Ow!" Fisher skidded to the side and threw his head up, what had he done now?
"Fisher, show respect for your elders. Apoligise for your rude prying". Myth repromanded.
The colt lowered his head submissively. "I'm sorry, it wasn't my place," he mumbled.
*** The band arrived at the shelter, it was a warm and dry place with water and dry grass to munch on.
"A wonderful set up you have made yourself," Myth said warmly.
"Yeah, real nice," Fisher complented merrily, he had already forgotten his punishment as he rushed for the offered food.
Out of earshot with must noise blocked out by his munching Myth turned to their host.
"Please, I am MythWater and my colt is StarFisher, may we know your name?"

"My name?" Fidor said, her eyes sparking with a smile," I be Fidor." She was suprised that the pair wanted to know more about her, she had supposed they would be mere passersby, and would leave as soon as they came. She felt a warmth overcome her and realized that she wanted them to stay. " Please," she said, dancing thunder on the grotto floor," Forgive your colt for his folly. I'm sure he meant not to be rude. And it is a question I would surely ponder if I was in your place." Seeing the colt happily munching the dried grass in the back, she again smiled warmly, her features vague in the wan lichenlight. " You know..." she began, trying to find the words. She gazed at the roan mare, wondering if this was the time to tell. " I used to have a brother...about StarFisher's age. I took care of him until he was of age to leave me. Your son...he reminds me much of Darios. The same eyes, I believe. And playful spirit. It...hurts a bit. I oft think of him." She looked away from Myth, opening her eyes wide to stop the tears from coming. Turning back to the roan mare, she smiled warmly again. " You are very lucky." she said, motioning to the colt. -Fidor
