((Suppose I'll use my example post. Just to get things rolling))
Bear greeted the new day with a stream of mountain air from his nostrils. It was chilly that morning , he noted to himself, that he could see his own breath. He smiled in spite of himself, twisting his tail as he approached the highest point. The sun was still rising, poking right over the mountain range ahead. Bear had to squint to take in the entire scene. He blinked uneasily. Perhaps his right eye was failing, he thought. Winter had taken its toll on him, in more ways than one. His other senses, however, were as keen as ever. There were others around him…he could feel them, though he could not see them. An odd sensation began to flood him from the inside, as if he was rising from the accumulation of air in his chest. He had the sudden urge to jump and run like his body allowed him to long ago. Unable to hold in his excitement, the stallion fell back onto his hind legs and pawed at the sky with unclaimed power. Winter was long gone and the sun was just over the horizon.

((ello Aspen!)) Leylani stood in the shallows of the cold river. At the scent of another equine, her head jerked upwards. Water dripped from her chin as she scanned the terrain. She saw no other animals, and lowered her head once more to drink. The river flowed and swirled about the mare's legs. She felt an urge to roll in its glistening water, but it was much too cold to get all wet. Leylani looked to the top of the mountains. Winter's snows had almost gone; they had melted and joined the river. To the young mare, it just made the water even sweeter and more refreshing.

Suddenly she stopped, the air had brounght a scent along with.Echo looked around the scent was to fimiliar not to notice it.She walked around in the tall grass then stopped and tried to listen for a call.

Ear twitching as he picked up the sounds of others, Bear looked back to the brook. His curiousity went aflame. As he began down the hillside, he wondered with excitement what other equestrians were like...how they looked, if they were friendly. It was too much to bear for one who had never seen any of his kind away from the humans.

A Bay Stallion trooted trough a tangle of trees to look across a grand Valley in search of water. His long dark mane was twisted and knotted and hung into his crystal eyes. A faded eagle feather hung in his mane, years of tangles meant it was impossible to get out. Trudging through the undergrowth he finally reached the Valley in which he sought. Sticking his head out of the growth of trees he was immediately greeted by warm sunlight. The Mourn was still cool and his breath hung out before him but the rising sun gave hope for a warm day as it basked him in astray rays. In the Valley below a group of horses were forming before is proud eyes. It was good to see others like his kind, it had been too long since he'd seen a truly wild horse, the circle around his eye proof of his enslavement.

Before his eyes could even glance the water, Bear spotted a grey mare thundering towards him. He started to retreat, though found it uneasy to gain his legs again. Eyes widened as he didn't know whether the mare was running from something or running to greet him, but he soon decided that it would be best to stand his ground. ((bear is unaware of his size ;3)

((I love your avatar, Aspen. I envy your talent for art. I don't have the patience. I'd much rather ride on my crazy pony as she gallops madly around the ring )) Leylani wasn't a sociable animal. She looked at the other equines that were coming in. No, she wouldn't stay here. She'd find a place less populated.

(thanks Sage! It took alot of patience, that one ) Bear stood high as the mare galloped forward, and noticed that some were still on the other side of the stream. As a friendly gesture, he pawed the ground with his forehoof and nieghed. His voice was low and raspy in spite of his age, but he hoped that the mares would understand that he ment them no harm.

(hee hee...i did what aspen did xD *using sample post*)
The forest was alight with all sorts of other sounds as well, ranging from flowing streams to chittery chipmunks. The birds in the surrounding woods created a little chorus of their own tweets as well. But that wasn't the only music heard in the air. A lone figure danced among the lush grass in the open field, filling the air with a small, wordless melody of her own. Twirling and spinning about, she moves on her hind legs effortlessly. She dances with a balance and grace that has taken years to perfect. Tossing her silvery mane and tail about, she closes her eyes to the sounds of the forest.

Jan watched with interest the scene before him. He was new to this area. There was an older fellow by the river who seemed to be trying to interact with the mares on the other side.
As much as Jan preferred his solitude, he was terribly thirsty. He made his way to the river.

Guide, having raised his head from a drink of water further down the brook, heard the bustle of hooves and felt the mixed emotions of cautious and headstrong horses beginning to interact a ways down the river. He dropped his head and tilted it slightily in curiosity, walking slowly toward the sound of the commotion. Just over the rise, he stood and took in the many new beings. A beautifully confident brown and gray mare approaching from the far side, hooves a-thundering, an older stallion, grey and gentle-looking, slightly stricken by this approach.A darker stallion, surveying the action as Guide was, but holding his ground,a bay stallion higher up, surveying the entire valley with a stance of endearing pride and honor and on the other side of the river a graceful appalosa mare dancing in the essence of the forest.
Guide shifted his ears and eyes to each horse taking in all that he could from first glances, and squealed gently with a slight agile jump, propelling him into a determined yet friendly and open walk towards the mare and stallion about to collide on the banks of the river in hope of some conversation.

Already at the river Colors long mane blew over to the other side. She layed down hooved slightly dipped in the river's refreshing water. Colors being on the same side of the river as Bear and Jan, looked at them both with couriosity, she got up, and walked throught the river, it's chilling sensations bringing pleasure to her worn out legs.

A black stallion approached the small river. A white blaze lay on his dark face, sliding crooked a little near his muzzle. A white blanket splashed his rump and on his right foreleg he bore a sock, hiding two coronets his rear legs. Legs that were long and strong as pine bows spouted from his lean, runner's body. His feet were dragging, his eyes giving a his yougn face a dejected expression. A few feathers were knotted in his black mane, which blew like black cornsilk in the slight breeze. As the stud's hooves touched the cold, river water, his eyes widened. Heaving out a long, hard breath, the white marked stallion collapsed into the water, spattering all the surrounding flora and fauna with wetness. His whole body ached with exhaustion from his escape from the Native Americans who had captured and attempted to tame him. Running non-stop until he couldn't run any more, the stud had finally left the Native American's demenses.(GRRRR, I had to leave. I wanted this to be longer...)

Aeroe Stood at his cave in the mountain that overlooked the small valley. Once more he was inturrputed in his sleep by a faint commotion and the ever rising sun. AFter taking his time to stretch and warm his weary muscles he shuffled outside to overlook the land below. and more important pinpoint the intruders.
there was a small mismatched herd gathering together on the river banks...actually it seemed as if most of them were meeting for the first time. he hated crowds. they were only good for two things. startinga panic of some sort, or being decoys.
he quietly watched for several minutes. a few more horses had appeared in the area by the river, one had come over from one of hills, other were gathering to get drinks.
"Idiots, they just have to congregate over here when I'm trying to sleep!" he paused for a minute and study the group again. "And what the heck are they even doing!? They're just wandering." he wanted to get rid of them, but not even he could just waltz over and tell them to get lost. Partly due to curiosity, but mainly as to devise a way of getting them to leave, he decided he'd go over and figure out what the big deal was.
The stallion edged his way silently down the mountain side with ease until he came upon a narrow and smooth creek that ran down the mountain side and into the large river through the valley. He had learned that the bottom of the creek was smooth enough that if he leaned down low to the ground in the creek bed (which was pretty much river rock and dense clay) and gave a hard push the water would shove him down the creek and essentially act as a large slide to carry him down the rest of the mountain (which was only about another 75 feet at a 35 degree grade) and splash into the start of the river. and so that's exactly what he proceeded to do. He'd also learned that for occasions like this, it wasn't only a quick and easy way to get down teh mountain, but the cold water soaking his fur and chilling his skin was a great way to wake yourself up in the morning.
After hitting the water rather hard and making a nice little water spray he dunked himself and then pulled himself out of the water. He liked that once you got to the actual river the water slowed considerably and made for great swimming. But no time for that today. he lazily shook off some of the water and began a brisk pace towards the gathering horses. he couldn't see it to know for sure, but the way he felt he had to believe that the expression on his face was definatly not a friendly one.
